Elena didn't want me to illustrate this one. It's going to our solicitor. We've had such poor experiences with people in the legal profession that we have pretty much decided that the whole profession lacks any humanity. She sees this as not just throwing away good ink, but as giving part of my soul away to the undeserving.
Personally, I see it a different way. I think that these people have probably grown up deprived of art and warmth and hence they amuse themselves by generally being horrible to people. I view the act of sending art to people who don't have the milk of human kindness, such as lawyers, credit card companies and the like as an act of charity, and one which can only help bring peace to the world.

This one is going back to the estate agents. Yes it's the same poxy estate agent! They send a letter to every single flat in the building and these all end up in the bin, so I fish them out and draw on them to send them back.
The artwork comes from The Saga of the Swamp Thing book 2, by Alan Moore, Totleben and Bisette, which I am re-reading after about 8 years. It is just as good as I remember it, but these days, with an understanding of art, I can really revel in the artwork as well as just Moore's storytelling

House prices in London are so insane that they are desperate for people to sell up so they can cash in. As a result, the local estate agents regularly send out speculative (junk) mail to every house on the street in the hope that they can be the ones who make you move out of your home. I'm not really sure that this return to sender will actually stop them from sending these, but it's gotta be worth a go

011a - Olympic rower thank you note

I couldn't bring myself to count this as part of my 365 as it's not an envelope and not going to be viewable as it travels the postal system. I've just sold a set of Olympic rowers stamps on eBay and done this little watercolour and biro Thank You note which is going inside. Just wanted to share a little more art with the mail and with you
The original stamps looked like this
but as I can't be bothered to draw faces, I decided to put Liam Neeson and Denzel Washington in instead.
If you want a set of stamps yourself, get yourself over to the little site that Elena and I run at Postcardsfrom.us and we promise to send illustrations along for free :-)

In keeping with my idea of sending mailart for free this year, this one is going out to an eBay buyer, who has bought some quilling magazines from Elena on our eBay shop. The envelope art comes as a bonus and is something that I've been doing for a few years now
Linework was done by me from a stencil, but Elena is the colour master in our house so she finished it off with all colour work

010 - Junk mail - it goes around
Thursday, January 15, 2015This was inspired by an anti war campaign poster from 2009. I absolutely love the concept of the wraparound poster and what it means and wanted to apply the Karma idea to junk mail
Done in Sharpie and biro.
008 - Gunichi Returns (to sender)
Thursday, January 15, 2015Envelope being returned to Aqua, the credit card company, who have managed somehow to get my address and the details of all my tenants that I had too. Most of the envelopes I've sent back are from them. Hope they get the message to stop sending me spam. But not too soon as I still have another 357 to go
