Ha!!
I've heard stories that in places such as shanty towns, which just started up with no planning, mailing addresses sometimes refer to the lamp-posts that are located nearest the house. People just give them numbers and the post goes to "Joe, near lamp-post 34".
Perhaps this poor chap needs to find one of those... or another landmark such as a big chunk of scrap metal from a spacecraft he might find lying about?
