My mind has been on moving back to beautiful Oregon lately. One thing I miss most is the trees. It is the land of conifers and the tallest and most stately is the Douglas fir, Pseudotsuga menziesii, my favorite. I tried to draw it from memory today. Pretty clumsy. But, I enjoyed it so much that I'll be making a series of it. I'm gonna keep drawing it until I get it right and you lot will just have to accept my shortcomings in your letterboxes.
I did a drawing a while back with my fountain pen then dropped a drop of water on it. I complained that I wrecked it until I looked closer and saw the way the ink had bled and thought "hey, that looks really cool". I promptly dabbed the whole thing with water and now I'm a bit hooked on that. I also like dirtying up the white.

I love this piece. You can see it really came from the heart and I really like the idea of hammering away until you get it to your satisfaction.
Me and Elena started our art class the other day. It's so interesting to look around the class and see that even when we were all drawing bottles, the results were totally different, each piece bringing out an element of the person on the other end of the pencil. I loved it it was great fun!

Oh yay!! You started! I didn't know Elena was going too. Classes here don't start until the end if the month. I'll let you know when I get into one. Can't wait to hear all about your experience.
