Monday, February 23, 2015
Just finished re-reading Gotham Central book 1. What a combination of writers and artists! Ed Brubaker and Greg Rucka are titans on their own, having transformed noir comics pretty much singlehandedly in the last twenty years, so having them tag team on a Batman police procedural title was a dream come true. Even years after the series wrapped up, this series is still pure pleasure to read
The art, by Michael Lark, perfectly suits the tone of the series. Brubaker works so well with Lark.

Sunday, February 22, 2015I'm going through a Biro phase at the moment and am burning through the ball point pens. I particularly like finding pens on the floor. It's very odd that I own lots of art materials and find the cheapest thing I can get my hands on is my weapon of choice. The only problem with them is that they take AGES to do fill-in colour, so this took me more than an hour to just colour in
22 - Grendel
Sunday, February 22, 2015I've just finished reading Grendel Omnibus 2, written by Matt Wagner and illustrated by Wagner and Tim Sale and this piece is inspired by that. I haven't really spent any time reading Grendel and only just realised that Grendel has been running for nearly 30 years. I didn't really enjoy the book as I thought the storytelling was erratic and inconsistent. This came as a surprise, because I've just been reading Matt Wagner's run on Madame Xanadu and his storyboarding and dialogue was outstanding.
This is in the subseries of Return to sender envelopes, biro drawings, and books that I've read.
