Yesterday we saw a sign for fresh whole milk with the cream on top at our local grocery store. I so wanted to buy it, and bake cake to eat with the whole milk, but I resisted.

When I was a kid, I loved strawberry milk. It was the only way I would drink milk. There is probably more danger in strawberry milk than in the milk this section of the old nutrition book warns about.

The focus of this page of the old nutrition book is "Foods used for both Fuel and Repair" (weird capitalization!). It gets way too up close and personal about egg whites ... "jellylike substance" ... ick. I don't want to think about that very hard.

My favorite food for Fuel and Repair is baked macaroni and cheese. Not very healthy, but, man, does it make me feel good.

The busy bees are a reaction to the woman relaxing with the newspaper as that "Oven Dinner" menu is magically preparing itself. Perhaps her husband is cooking all that food, while she unwinds. That happened lots in the 1950s when this cookbook was published.

I cut up an old nutrition book and some vintage cookbooks. The checkmark beside the "Fats" paragraph was added by the original owner of the nutrition book. The paragraph mostly gives thumbs up to eating lots of fats, and maybe that's why the reader thought it was good. Focus on what one wants to read, not the whole source ... too often, that's the way research is done.

More paint chips ... the paint chips thing is gaining a life of its own. This one is called "yogurt" but to the best of my knowledge, yogurt is usually white in its natural state.

I have a love/hate relationship with yogurt. When I'm eating it, I love it. When I shop for it, I hate it. Too many sugary yogurts in the grocery store. I like the Greek-style yogurt, but had three nasty experiences with hair (not mine) in the yogurt on three separate purchases, so I am not buying it anymore.
