#336 Shapes nearby

Tuesday, September 04, 2012
Reading about  Joseph Fiore early, I collected the shapes I could see (after breakfast) onto the back of a bit of recycled card.  Fiore's third period concerned pictographs. I kept thinking about the Matisse that was opened nearby.

#315 Humument to Guido

Wednesday, August 22, 2012
I've always thought I would be able to use the Summer Exhibition list of works as a stimulus for poetry or visual stuff.  Today was a Guido day in that I bought a book in terrible disrepair for 50P that has absolutely beautiful etchings that I know Guido would love, so I guess I'm not surprised by today's result.

Before I started today's Mail art I was looking for some Minxus Lynxus inspiration - I want to send something new that way so looked at random pages in the list book.  I found some words that seemed relevant and then just didn't think anymore.  The result was very definately Guido.  One of the words on the page was Humument.  Don't know if you know Tom Phillips' work but I am a big fan: http://gallery.humument.com/page001-birthday ?

# 209 altered page

Monday, May 07, 2012

I always make book pages before I go into a school.  The process helps me to think and then I can explain what I mean.  We went for a walk along a river and built fairy houses and looked for poetry.

#207 Falling in love with flowers

I'm a sucker for a bouquet and was thwarted from many pressing tasks with the need to capture these spring flowers. Am having such fun with backs too.

#206 Kohlrabi Gymnast

Monday, May 07, 2012

So what does a project that involves a visit to a community garden, the olympics, some visiting Ugandans and children from two schools look like?  I had no idea.  In the end we made olympic vegetables and the kids thought it was great.  I was a bit surprised when the year 6 students turned out to be year 2 students but hey.

#95 Stuff I used

Wednesday, January 04, 2012

So we wanted a light dinner and had lots of things in the fridge on the brink of expiry.  It was my mum's last night in England so I wanted it to be festive. After the meal I noticed that my hands were like sandpaper and there was so much stuff on the drying rack, on surfaces. Funny how complicated simple can be. Tomorrow it's leftovers and probably need to add salt to the water softener...

#76 Vote for silliness

Tuesday, December 13, 2011
Took the Sunday Times Mag out of the recycling bin at the recycling centre. Why doesn't my family know I can use those? Looked for something, anything to get me going and then I just let go.  I am much too serious sometimes.  Maybe being sillier will be my New Years' resolution?
