Limner Mail Art 30, "Hybrid"

Sunday, March 04, 2012
Limner Mail Art #30, "Hybrid" *Trees here are somewhat  confused. Most are blooming while a few are still shroud in winter's mourning quilts. When I drive I catch the colors from the corners or my eyes, and it's quite a slide show. So, I wondered "Why not try to capture it all in one shot?" And I did. In my mind's eye.

I'm having a warm, lively, in-my-face relationship with markers lately. Today I bought a 6 pack of Copic's basic rainbow. Color me surprised to discover they're dull compared to the less expensive Sharpie markers. A Copic 6 pack goes for $39.95 or $7 and some change per. I bought a pack for $29.95 because they were "mispriced." Ha! Lucky me, 'cause I'd be pissed if I'd paid an extra $10 for the dull privilege. Their paper is overpriced, too. Bristol works just as well, but no matter. Am thinking postcards but the first full sheet is stationery. Hope it doesn't make the reader's eyes bleed. Ha-ha. The pun stands--intended or not.

Limner Mail Art #24, "Artists, Poets & Writers"

Limner Mail Art#24, "Artists, Poets & Writers" *My little note postcard nod to the game changers. All those little "subscribe" inserts that pollute magazines are great for mail art, just as you said, Patty. The quote might be from "Garden & Gun," or possibly "Texas Highways." I forget.

How dare they leave us out? Well, they're a 'zine for, you got it . . . poets n writers. I wonder how tall the stack would be if I glued together all the inserts I get in a year? Write on!

Limner's Mail Art #12/365, "Seeing Eye to Eye"

The back of an envelope. I like to separate facial features. I dream of drawing human anatomy better than the old masters. You say "dream on?" Ha! I will. No camera obscura for me, either. Would a letter in one of my sketch envies freak you out? Oh, and if you stare at the mouth long enough? The lips move.

Limner Mail Art 10/365 "Laying Down Limner"

Was drifting off to sleep. Saw the i on its side. Had to get up, grab a sketch pad, and before I knew it, it was time to get up. So, I have a new postcard.

Limner's Mail Art 7/365, "My Story"

This is a bit of envie mail art for The Pen Thief. I cannot bear tossing good ads with potentially amazing repurposing potential. You should see my morgue!

Tim Holtz ranks with 7gypsies for great packaging and ads. "My Story" is taken from the ad, and repeated in the title, 'cause we all share parts of our life stories every time we write a letter. So, write on!

Limner Mail Art #5/365, Symptoms of a Life

I made this "subdued" postcard for a special friend of mine. Hope she likes it. I ate Crayons when I was a kid. They've coupled with werds, and come tumbling out. Oh, bright expressions!
