This was my 9th Round Robin Zine to work in and her theme was "something that inspires you". I am so inspired by almost anything, but I managed to narrow it down to "Evidence". Proof of existence.
Vintage ledger pages, silk scarf that didn't survive the wash, vintage stamps and selvedges, wallpaper from my mom's farmhouse in Maine, butter wrapper, take out bags, string from Mike's Pastry in Boston.
148 - Is my tie straight?
This was a REAL add and pass, the first piece I made with the collected maialrt talent that gathered in Paris this weekend!
Elena and I went over to Paris with Positively Postal, where we met up with fellow mailartists Mim and Dean Marks.
I had been well and truly stuck at #146 for months and this was the first piece I made for ages. I put together the snowman and tie and passed the piece on because I felt that someone else could finish it, and thus began the REAL Add and Pass.
Personally, I'm not a big fan of add and pass mailart, but when you get a bunch of creatives in a room as we had that day Add and Pass is such a natural mailart process!

Neuron 1 of 83. This is the first piece of a new project. 83 "neurons" will be mailed out. each is an add and pass. The "neurons" come from Neuron journal covers(www.cell.com/neuron/) . Why 83? That's how many copies I found by the receptacle. The journal covers are all graphics and no copy. I've just trimmed off the headers.
"Neurons connect to each other to form networks."
this project is surely inspired and influenced by Ryosuke Cohen's BrainCell Project.

Cohen described the origin of the project's name in 1985:
"Well, I’ll title my work “Brain Cell”, because the structure of a brain through a microscope looks like the diagram of the Mail Art network. Thousands of Neurons clung and piled up together are just like the Mail Art network, I believe."
