I'm still having fun with paint chips. I spend way too much time sneaking paint chips out of the hardware store.

There are two in this series, but I'm just posting one. I have lots and lots of catch-up posting to do and since the cards are very, very similar, I won't be posting each card in my series individually,

I have been making mailart every day, but just can't get to posting. I did scan most of my mailart soon after I made it so I could mail it, though. Just have to document it all on the blog now. It will be a slow process.

There are still cards from earlier in the year I haven't mailed. My main goal is to MAIL all 365 pieces of mailart before 1 December 2011. These two went as a Postcrossing card (which hasn't been registered yet and the recipient hasn't been online in a month ... so it will probably expire) in October and a thank you card for this Benjamin Franklin orphaned postcard.

If ever there was a day to get your freak on, it's gotta be Halloween....so don't let me stop you!

I cut this out of my favourite Saturday magazine supplement a little while ago and put it to one side until now when I thought it really just needed the addition of a few old stamps and a snappy(!) title!

Just dump that bottle in and taste away! After a bottle or two, it will taste fantastic no matter what it is!

Sherry also wears heels when she cooks. I love Sherry.

I now know what is missing from my morning grapefruit .. sherry. I think Sherry and I need to be much closer.

This is from a cooking with wine booklet from the 1950s. The woman cooking has such a glow! I love her apron and very tiny waist.

I didn't know the bit at the bottom ... sherry "does marvelous things for soups" ... I think I need to get to know Sherry. Maybe she is the woman with the very tiny waist?

I try to buy local foods as much as possible, even wines. I live in southwestern Pennsylvania, which is not exactly a vineyard haven. There are vineyards around here, and more up north, on Lake Erie, but the grapes don't have that je ne sais quoi that makes for a good wine. I am not a wine connoisseur, so I can't put into words what makes the local wines taste odd. They just do. Plus, I always have heartburn afterwards.

This is for a Swap Bot exchange called "3 Things That Make Me Happy." Today we had a semi-dry day, which I wanted to spend with three things that make me happy ... wine, cheese and books. However, since this was a semi-dry day, there were a million things outdoors I needed to do before the next bout of rain comes in, and I didn't get to spend any time with these three things. I did, however, get to make the postcard, and a promise to myself that I'll spend the next semi-dry day with wine, cheese and books, even if the yard work is screaming.

My daughter is pregnant with her third child and isn't drinking any alcoholic beverage at all. One night my son-in-law brought home a non-alcoholic wine and April quite likes it. While we were sipping wine, she enjoyed her Ariel. I accidently poured myself a glass, thinking it was regular wine, and it wasn't until three or four sips that I realized I was drinking grape juice. It isn't awful, but it is quite sweet. I think it would be so much better with a bit of sparkling lemonade and some added fruit, and the next time I go up there, I'm going to have that idea perfected and make a whole pitcher.

The bottle, hands and the words all just seemed to fall into place when I was making this - the person (not sure if it is a man or a woman!) seems to be enjoying it as are the two kissing - mouthwatering indeed!

The little diary actually opens. I'm going to write a drunken memory on the inside pages before I mail this. It could be a drunken memory created tonight because I think I shall have three glasses of wine instead of my usual two.

Blithering Idiot barley wine is not a lovely beverage. I did buy this one for the label.

Ah yes ... I remember the "dark ages." Actually, most days I think we in the US are still living in the dark ages, which according to this vintage cooking pamphlet, is "B.C. - Before Commonsense."

I would love to cook more with wine, but it is more fun to drink wine. I read somewhere that you should never ever cook with wine that you would not drink. I remember back in my 20s using wine in my cooking that had been open for weeks. These days a wine bottle is open for three days, max. And I'm not sharing it with the food.

When I visited Germany for the first time many years ago, I decided to try German beer. I don't really like beer, but figured that I couldn't visit Germany without trying a beer. I went to an outdoor café and ordered a beer, and it was a HUGE glass of beer. I don't think I finished it.

I would love to have the same experience with wine in France. I would finish it.

This card is made from the top of a frozen hors d'oeuvres container. I bought it for the box design, which has clear plastic as the table surface. I put another piece of cardstock under it to make it look like a tablecloth. But I also bought it because of the name of the company, Goodwives. It reminded me right away of the card JJalltheway sent me back in December so this card is going to JJ.

The story on this card is from a 2006 page-a-day calendar for "wine lovers." I love wine, but I really can't tell the difference between a $15 bottle of wine and a $45 bottle of wine. I do know cheap wine when I taste it, but I've never turned a glass of red wine away.

Rosé, on the other hand, is just a wishy-washy red or a too bold white. It is the wine I drank in my early 20s when I wanted to appear sophisticated.

I'm sending this to a penfriend whose name is Rose. I've only been writing to Rose for a few months, and I'm not at all sure she is into mailart, or wine, or her name used in vain. We shall see.

This is going to Austin James, who sent me this wonderful card when I first joined IUOMA last month. I had sent him this card, confessing that I can't relate to people through music, before receiving his music-related card that actually does relate to my life.

Back to my early morning creating. This is one of many wine related postcards I'll make in the coming months. My wine stock is below low now, and will remain that way until I am employed, so I will console myself with just thinking about wine while I make mailart.

This is going to a fairly new correspondent in California. She sends me the most amazing food and beverage photos. The one in hand now is of martinis, taken at her local movie theatre. Man, I could endure even the worst movie if there was a martini allowed.
