When I was organizing my stash for the February alphabet theme last month, I knew I wanted to do Four X beer, but I didn't have any labels, and knew I wouldn't find any locally. Pennsylvania has odd liquor laws and even if I could find a distributor for this Australian beer, I would have had to buy a case of the stuff because they don't sell six packs in this state, unless you go to a bar, and then you can buy a six pack, but you can only buy two at a time. If you want three six packs, you have to buy the first two, then take them to your car, wait a bit, and go back and buy the third. And the wine and spirit stores are even weirder.
Anyway, I decided to email Castlemaine Perkins Milton Brewery to see if they would send me a label. They did. Boy did they. I got an envelope stuffed with all sorts of labels! I've got every sort of Castlemaine label out there. I could decorate an entire room with beer labels if I wanted. I'm thrilled to pieces because beer labels are one of my favorite beverage collections, and I don't really like beer so I don't have many opportunities to collect the labels.
If I ever get to Australia, I am going to make a point of visiting the Castlemaine brewery and drinking the beer, and probably buying lots of stuff in their gift shop.

I just love the stories that accompany these little gems. Great use of the label.

Love the story & now I can add to it! The brewery is about 2 minutes away from where I live. They do have a restaurant & a tasting room as well as a tour (of course, being local, I have never done the tour but it's on my list). They were flooded rather badly during the recent inundation (a word that has become vey popular & I'm starting to detest) but I believe are up & running again. If you come to Brisbane - you will definitely have to contact me. We see the neon sign of XXXX on top of the brewery from our house & some days if the wind is blowing the right way, the smell of hops is a little overpowering. Glad they were so generous.

What fun it was to see an Aussie label today. You could have asked me but I wouldn't have been able to send you as many as they did. Great story.
