Mailart 365 has moved

The shrimp on the edge of the cocktail glass is me, about 13 years ago.

I didn't have my first real date until I was about 18 and was fixed up with a guy a few years older. He wanted to take me out to dinner and asked what kind of food I like. I said "seafood," because it seemed more adult than pizza, which was pretty much the only restaurant food I'd ever experienced.

He took me to a restaurant where there was an "all you can eat" shrimp special. I had never eaten shrimp, but didn't want to appear unsophisticated, so when he suggested it, I said sure. The plate came, and not knowing any better, I ate the entire shrimp, tail and all. He must have thought I was nuts, crunching away on the tails. However, we did end up dating, and eventually marrying. Years later we went to see Splash, and there was a scene where the mermaid character, Madison, eats a lobster, shell and all. We both cracked up, remembering our first date. A nice memory.

We divorced, quite amicably, about 8 years ago. We are not friends, but we are not enemies. Just two people not really suited to each other.

I am not making light of the violence that engulfs the world, but last night, when I was futzing in the art room, I picked up the background image and the idea of using swords as kabob sticks made me smile. I am war-weary and needed that smile. Seems like the only way we know how to bring change is by violence.

Setting aside my futzing, I sat down and cut out some peace symbols. I had had one wine too many, so the peace sign is missing a "leg" ... I pretty much cut out Mercedes symbols. But, I didn't realize that until this morning. Not sure if I should fix it, or go with the mistake.

What a day! I got all caught up and making great headway into my stash. Used up all I cared to of my prehistoric life poster.

I'm going to print this, frame it, and hang it by my desk!

This was made from two separate pieces of junk mail (sadly the only mail which came through the door today!) in a quick ten minutes as I'm about to go out. Not bad for something which I was going to throw straight in the (recycling) bin!

Who needs a translator when one has a big box of chocolate creams.

This was going to go a Postcrosser, but upon reading her oh so gentle profile, I decided she might consider this "scary," so I'll make her something else. Perhaps kittens and yarn .... and just the teeniest, tiniest hint of a threat lurking in the background.

I tore off part of the BlueCanvas magazine cover to make this. I have been busy with last semester things that I have to keep making quick things at the last minute >.< Bah!

A brand new service from Royal Mail and Twitter is unveiled today to try to boost falling mail volumes. Called Twiletter every tweet and letter posted can be combined and sent in either of the usual ways free of charge. This service is accompanied by new special gold scale fish and Twiletter stamps. Note that this is just a trial service which only runs from midnight on April 1st 2011 until midday so get those tweets and letters ready and go Twiletter....!
