Mailart 365 has moved
Thanks for visiting Mailart 365. This site is an archive of mailart produced by artists doing mailart 365 from December 2010 to August 2016. As of July 2016, we moved to a new and more modern site at www.mailart365.com. Come on over and check us out thereThe Penny Red Spider 8 May 2011 (#86)
I read this letter/e-mail (text on the left of the image) in a very recent stamp magazine and it gave me the inspiration to create this piece which I think has turned out pretty well! E-mail/letter reads as follows:
"Along came a spider...
My home help came running to me one morning asking "What is that thing dangling in the air over your kitchen table?"
Imagine my surprise when I found that the "thing" was an imperforate Penny Red with a numeral cancel, apparently levitating about three feet above the place where I had been sorting through my hundreds of Queen Victoria stamps the previous day!
Closer investigation revealed a tiny spider, about a foot or so above the stamp, holding on to it with it web strand as if its life depended upon it.
Was this little arachnid about to embark on a stamp collection? Was it planning to dampen any remaining gum and use as a fly-catcher? Or was it just trying to acquire a large portrait of the Queen for displaying on its 'web' site?
I guess I'll never know."

This is fantastic! I am scared of spiders, but this card, and the story, make me so very happy.
