I wrote about our search for good, local, whole wheat bread in Bread Blues, and today, in honor of National Whole Wheat Bread Month, I am sending a thank you postcard to a local bakery that does make good bread.
Mediterra Bakehouse supplies whole wheat bread to some of the local groceries stores we frequent. We like their bread, though sometimes the available selection in limited in our area. The postcard features labels from our favorite varieties.
There is no high fructose corn syrup. No enriched flour. No preservatives. The crust is crusty. The bread is hearty. It's expensive, so we don't have it every day, but that's a good thing. Bread every day is not great for our waist.
I plan to send lots of thank you postcards this year. And some postcards to companies whose products I wish I could love, but don't ... and why I don't.
