Michael Pollan, an American author who writes a great deal about food, claims we shouldn't eat anything our grandmothers wouldn't recognize as food. This recipe card is from the 1950s, and my grandmother would have happily served this to her family, even though I'm sure most of the ingredients are not recognizable as food. I am pretty sure we had this at our Thanksgiving feasts.
What is even more bizarre is that this frozen muck is still sought after. Yikes.
This will be going out to a penfriend in Indiana.

Hilarious, yes, grandmothers & others served these gelatin (yuk) surprises and lots of people still do like them. I'm sure I thought they were a treat when I was a kid.
