92 and 93/365 - Swap-bot madness

Wednesday, August 17, 2011

I know I had another drawing that I did back then in Denmark. It's somewhere in our tiny little house hidden underneath all the pile of paper and craft stuff. I have to look for it tonight.

Anyway when I came back from my honeymoon in April I went Swap-bot mad. I joined like 12 swaps at once and made loads of cards. Good days..., now I'm too busy to spend every night until late hours doing quilling and cards. :(

#224 - Party Hardy With the Royals 3

Tuesday, July 26, 2011
Of course, one can't party hardy if one doesn't have a designated driver, and Max and Carlota certainly knew how to rig out the party van. The message on the back of this one is "private coach ... the hubcaps were silver."

I think this drink is called "Side Car" because after one of them, you are on your side in the car.

#223 - Party Hardy With the Royals 2

Tuesday, July 26, 2011
And here he is, in all his glory, Emperor Maximilian. The handwritten message on the back notes that he "ruled Mexico many years ago." Yes ... about 150 years ago. But, when this postcard was bought, and the message on the back written, it was probably only 100 years ago.

The festive, fruity Whiskey Fix seemed a good choice for dear Max.

#222 - Party Hardy With the Royals 1

Tuesday, July 26, 2011
The best thing about the vintage Mexican postcards I used for this series ... they come with pre-written messages on the back. Just a little message, written by the original owner. I don't know the person who wrote the messages ... I got these cards from someone else who found them at a thrift shop. This one has "Carlota, wife of the Emperor Maximilian" written on the back. There's still plenty of room for me to write a message of my own, and the address side is completely empty. I guess the note was just to remind the original owner about his/her trip to Mexico.

My grandmother, who rarely drank alcohol, was quite partial to Pink Lady cocktails when she did drink. Raw egg and alcohol ... yikes.

A little Lenore-ish. Simple collage with a vintage ledger page, a bit of a 1915 children's magazine, some new wrapping paper, a vintage stamp, and the bird from a nature encyclopedia.

For anyone not familiar with Lenore Tawney's postcards, here is a link to some photos.
