Created for a swapbot "Addicted to Mailart" swap. My partner liked fairies, but I don't tend to have any fairy images lying around. Serendipity! I bought a set of 1920's story books at a flea market that had fairy stories in it.

As I walked back from my weekly Saturday farmers' market stroll, I noticed that our across-the-street neighbors had left a cardboard box full of stuff by the curb. A peek inside the box revealed several photo books about Irish castles and unicorn tapestries: score!

A painting of a woman gathering grain served as the background to which I added the crumbling stone building, the old church, the dog, and the rabbit to create 'The Gatherer'. I've included a second photo showing the original piece before I digitized it into a collage.

I bought a new Photoshop CS3 'recipe' book. I took a color photo of Teleborg Castle, and used the 'recipe' for a 'dark, brooding background.' Voila! It worked great. Can't wait to try some more of the 'recipes'!
