Limner Mail Art #25, "Tree Mail"

Sunday, February 26, 2012
Limner Mail Art #25, "Tree Mail" *The back of an envie done while watching "The Matrix" for the 11th time. Not sure why the neon yellow doesn't come through, so I'll use regular yellow the second time around. The story goes something like this: The wind and the old tree had an argument. The wind roared so hard it blew the tree naked. Shamed, the tree grew thousands of branches to catch the wind . . .

Limner Mail Art #23, "The Girlfriend Bling Club"

Friday, February 24, 2012

Limner Mail Art #23, "The Girlfriend Bling Club." An envie for Member #4 of "The Girlfriend Bling Club." I have 4 young pen friends across the country. Of course only one knows how to write now, but still . . . The club members are 3 young girls, so I started a bling club to foster an interest in mail, and I want them to become mail friends, eventually. Hopefully they will draw pictures for each other until then. Their parents can help with the hard parts like addressing envies, but they can affix the postage, right? I loved it when my mom read the "hellos" and "be good and study" comments  relatives addressed to me in their letters. It meant they were thinking of me. It was the beginning of my letter-writing life.

Limner's Mail Art #21/365, "Sexy Back"

Tuesday, February 21, 2012

Limner's Mail Art #21, "Sexy Back" *I like the back of an envie as much as I like the front. I don't discriminate at all. I'll write the address on the back, tart up the front and call it a day. Here, I used three of my photos that are printed on Epson Presentation Paper to add a bit of punch. The rest is paper and plastic tape, a few sticky alphabet and stickers . . . I created it when I watched the Lakers win last night.

Who doesn't enjoy a great story? So, I've been adding bits of stories to the backs. Then I decided I'd tell a short story. In installments. You can't beat that idea with a stick. Later on I can say, "I've had some of my stories published by the USPS." And I won't be lying.

Not always feeling creative on the fly? Recycle the same lie tale. Just alter it here and there. Make it worth the read. And edit first. Always edit. LOL. Do as I say, not as I do. Gee, ain't mail art fun?
Write on!

Limner's Mail Art #16, "Never Run Out of Time"
In a word? I'll never run out of time, 'cause my clock doesn't have hands.

Limner's Mail Art #14,
"3's Company & Sometimes Kinfolks"
An envie for someone with the initials "BB."
And Babs makes 3.

Limner's Mail Art #15, "No Lie" (front)

(back)

Individuality really is sweet, and you know creativity is. So, this little postcard fills my needs on all fronts. The wee pink and white envie has a little piece of folded tracing paper tucked inside for sending secrets in plain sight. No idea who it's for . . . yet.

Limner's Mail Art #13, "5 Points"

Limner's Mail Art #13/365, "5 Points"
A postcard dedicated to The Melancholy Swan." It's an IOU of sorts. See, I said I'd draw her a swan, but I had to find references first. I can't draw a good swan unless I know how one is put together, right? Since there aren't any in my little pond, I had to buy a book, study the handful of photos, and practice-practice-practice. So far I've done more wishing than practicing. But only because I'm busy learning how to draw other promises. I know. Promises, promises, promises.

Limner Mail Art 12/365 "Seeing Eye to Eye"

Limner's Mail Art #12/365, "Seeing Eye to Eye"

The back of an envelope. I like to separate facial features. I dream of drawing human anatomy better than the old masters. You say "dream on?" Ha! I will. No camera obscura for me, either. Would a letter in one of my sketch envies freak you out? Oh, and if you stare at the mouth long enough? The lips move.

Limner Mail Art 10/365 "Laying Down Limner"

Was drifting off to sleep. Saw the i on its side. Had to get up, grab a sketch pad, and before I knew it, it was time to get up. So, I have a new postcard.

Limner Mail Art 9/365," Calling Card"

This is the 3rd ATC I've posted. It's a calling card. Not in the traditional sense of the definition, but in the sense that it calls out for recognition. Loud and lovely.

Limner's Mail Art 7/365, "My Story"

This is a bit of envie mail art for The Pen Thief. I cannot bear tossing good ads with potentially amazing repurposing potential. You should see my morgue!

Tim Holtz ranks with 7gypsies for great packaging and ads. "My Story" is taken from the ad, and repeated in the title, 'cause we all share parts of our life stories every time we write a letter. So, write on!

MAil Art 6/365, "Olivia"

Limner's Mail Art 6/365, "Olivia"
My "Olivia" postcard sprang forth fully arrayed from my forehead, quite like Athena, who was born fully armed,  and sprang from her father,  Zeus' forehead. I like olives. Hmm. I enjoy doodling, too.

Limner Mail Art #5/365, Symptoms of a Life

I made this "subdued" postcard for a special friend of mine. Hope she likes it. I ate Crayons when I was a kid. They've coupled with werds, and come tumbling out. Oh, bright expressions!

Mail Art #4, Sun Writ

Mail Art #4/365 "Sun Writ"

"Sun Writ" is a love note written in sunlight. See the heart? It means "I Heart Ye." The rest is written in code. Nice penmanship, huh? An arrow  points to the heart of the matter.
