I read "Broken City", a Batman book by Brian Azzarello and Eduardo Risso this weekend. The writer/artist team also wrote a fantastic series called 100 bullets, and if you haven't read that yet go grab it off the shelves! Sadly this time the team didn't deliver the goods in my opinion, but Risso's artwork still draws me in. He seems to effortless in his control of tones, much in the same style as Frank Miller, making heavy use of shadow to express the heavy oppressiveness of his formsEver since reading Sin City I've wanted to draw like Frank Miller but these days the shadowmaster I want to emulate is Eduardo Risso and this is my attempt to do so.This little number is winging it's way to Latvia, complete with a packet of Sharpies inside and the heavy colouring was completed by Elena in between bouts of gardening this weekend
