Most grocery stores offer a choice or paper or plastic, as they bag your goods. I like to reuse canvas bags if I have them with me and usually have a soft sided fold up bag with me.

I think a good portion of grocery shoppers in iowa city use them now that they started charging for bags.
We have a huge collection of reusable bags!

Some of the stores in my area offer a small discount if you use reusable bags. I don't think it is the amount of discount that matters ... it is the reminder that using reusable is a good thing. I have a very compact reusable bag I can carry in my very small handbag and I use it all the time.
