My 16 year old daughter has a best friend from Kindergarten in Portland, Oregon who is now 17 and got a job and bought herself an airplane ticket to Australia to come and see us. She got here yesterday. Today we went to Coogee beach, as you do, and what happened? She and my daughter both got stung by jellyfish!!! What luck!
Thankfully, this jelly, the blue bottle is not the one that stung them. It's sting is VERY painful and lasts for days, they were stung by one amusingly referred to as a "purple people eater". We found several of these "blueys" on the sand though. We picked them up with a stick and put them in a cup of water to see the tendrils dangle and they were every bit as mesmerising and beautiful dead as they are alive.

Hey, I really like it. Sometimes you just need some white to set things off. It looks great with the blue. Glad the bad jellyfish didn't sting them.

Yes Andy, what else to paint creatures from the sea? It looks so much better in real life though. I'm trying to figure out why some things look heaps better in person and some look better scanned. Any ideas?

I wish I knew the key to that. Our glitter pens really suffer under the scanner too. It's gonna be something to do with the way the light falls on it and stuff. That's why digital will never match REAL stuff
