The noodle soup recipe isn't anything special so I didn't mind covering it up. What I liked about the recipe is the line at the beginning, "... all the colds, malaises, and depressions usually remedied at the expense of our feathered friends." Man, I'm glad I'm not one of that author's friends. They seem to be knocked off with cheerful abandon.
And, yes, that is not soup in the bowl, but I was fixated on noodles. I'm feeling a bit punk and wishing I had a huge bowl of hot noodles with a light broth that is not made at the expense of any friends, feathered or otherwise.

Oh PostMuse, as your fellow vegetarian I wish I could come over and make you my famous Miso ramen or veggie TomYum. Good luck feeling better.

Ooooo ... both those sound wonderful! I'm heading into the city in a few minutes and plan to stop at a favorite coffeehouse where they have something called "sick tea." I don't know what is in it, but it always perks me up. And I think I'll stop and pick up some miso on the way home so I can make a little noodle soup tonight.

It took my brain a second to switch gears on "feeling punk" from punk rock to under the weather... I couldn't figure out how noodles fit into the former! :^o
My favorite remedy when I'm feeling punk (either way, I guess :^) is a steaming cup of ginger lemon tea. A pinch of cayenne is supposed to help, but is not available when I'm at the coffee shop where this is available.
