Another photo of London in the 1880s from the British Museum. Love the way buildings didn't stop -- even when they crossed an alley. They just built over the alley. Again, rather eerie. Is that Jack stalking my lady?

Great looking lady. You know those were the usually the way for horses and carriages to come 'round the back of the house. I guess sometimes allies too. Where's Andy, he should be our London architecture go-to man.


L-plate Big Cheese is much better with architecture than I am. I don't know about this place, I'm wracking my brains to think where it might be. It looks like it could be around Fleet Street, especially with that printing company sign on the right. It's certainly not the Oxford Arms in Camden.

If there was any way to track down where this was, I'd probably go there and take a follow-up pic.
