#315 Humument to Guido

Wednesday, August 22, 2012
I've always thought I would be able to use the Summer Exhibition list of works as a stimulus for poetry or visual stuff.  Today was a Guido day in that I bought a book in terrible disrepair for 50P that has absolutely beautiful etchings that I know Guido would love, so I guess I'm not surprised by today's result.

Before I started today's Mail art I was looking for some Minxus Lynxus inspiration - I want to send something new that way so looked at random pages in the list book.  I found some words that seemed relevant and then just didn't think anymore.  The result was very definately Guido.  One of the words on the page was Humument.  Don't know if you know Tom Phillips' work but I am a big fan: http://gallery.humument.com/page001-birthday ?

#227 Tainted Trashpo book page

Saturday, May 19, 2012
Inspired by conversations about the purity of trash in trashpo and encouraged by DeVillo Sloan to work in my particular intuitive way, I launched into a trashpo book today.  It is a diamond slot and tab book 1/2 A6 size and what you see is two pages, exactly postcard size as a spread. I haven't decided whether to send the book into Theresa Ann's small things, to DK, the queen of Trashpo or to Cheryl Penn who collects boekies.

#212 rewriting the fox attack

Monday, May 07, 2012

We found the holes in the fence and wired them shut and sunk the fence in new soil.  I feel very protective of the new birds but haven't managed to name them yet. My sister asked if the fox was cute.

#199 recycling

Thursday, April 26, 2012
Altering books and playing with through and on in non-mailart stuff and saw an advert in the recycling bin with stars and other shapes that felt like a good starting point.  Cut and glued and tested various scraps behind then added to. Had some running problems with gel glaze but like the speed feel that came about.

mailart365-Day 135, originally uploaded by FarStarr.

Via Flickr:
Rivers of gesso and acrylic paint on recycled cereal box. It almost didn't need anything else...and then I found the Man-of-War in my favorite set of Nature Encycopedias and made the packing tape transfer.

This one went off to a jellyfish lover..

Sometimes I like the backgrounds so much, they don't need any additions. This is extra pieces from painted cereal boxes, sewn together.

Life is full of direction...

Goopy gesso on recycled cereal box with acrylic paint. "No Crease" drycleaning tag, bend here sticker from my beach sticker, directions for making instant oatmeal. Don't think I'm eating all healthy or anything...I pulled the oatmeal package out of the trash at work.

#39 One Mark, Then Two

More asemic for a gal that recognized it in my work. The interference colors really shine in this one. The writing is with a Pigma; my favorite.

#38 A-1

Friday, March 11, 2011

This is the first "official" asemic painting and it was done for someone, in that group. I say "official" because it has been noted that I use asemics in my work anyway. Actually, I am not sure if it should be a capital A or a small a.
