102-365 New blue rubbish

Tuesday, March 15, 2011
On my walk home from work today ALL the rubbish was blue!! I took as a sign.
The 'NEW' and the Stag are from a can of beer, so a aluminium and I had to staple them down, knowing that glue probably wouldn't cut it. It doesn't really look it here but it's a textural dream.

90-365 found objects- A new fatigue

Wednesday, March 02, 2011
I can't believe that in todays stroll to the market I managed to find a painting in the back lane! And on paper no less! What luck. The purple bit with 'New Fatigue" is quite thick plastic and was part some manner of chart about road safety for new drivers so it has a nice "haptic" feel to it.

76-365 M is for Meander

Monday, February 14, 2011

There is no M in this image but I had a busy day of working in the morning , then coming home and preparing for a dinner party at our place with a music session to follow. There was not much time and I was not inspired so I decided to see if the streets of inner west Sydney would provide me with any fodder on my way to the grocery store.

Boy, did I luck out! There were at least two households that decided to move and dump tons of rubbish in the lane. As I was perusing a pile for good looking junk a man drove by me and said "Shocking isn't it, don't know what we pay the council for", to which I replied " Well, I'm a collage artist so for me it's a treasure trove". He looked at me like I said I was from Neptune and drove off.

It was a happy day for me.

I'm only realising now that I'm posting this, that I forgot to include a bit from my yellow pages! Eek, I'll have to put it on the address side.

50-365 found objects disquished???

Wednesday, January 19, 2011
It's amazing how much stuff one can find on the ground when one takes two trains to get to a major shopping mall.
I considered all of these things positive fodder when I picked them up but it wasn't until I got home that I realized that this adhesive fake moustache and eyebrows is neither disguised nor distinguished! I thought that spell checkers had made the Engrish mistakes at Chinese factories a thing of the past. Alas, no.
After Andy talked on his blog about finding money I decided that I would include the 5 cent piece that was sitting on the seat when I got back on the train. It's one of my favorite Aussie coins because it's an echidna wrapped around the number 5. Too cute.

41-365 found objects

Monday, January 10, 2011
Imagine my delight when my postcrosser requested something Tintin and I had nothing, then went out in the back lane to empty the rubbish and found these two Tintin cards in the lane!!!
A sure sign that my resolve to make mail art from found objects is a good one. I know the layout of these doesn't really contain much artfulness but it's a rainy summer day and I was supposed to camping. Ah well, off to play some music instead.

40-365 found objects

Sunday, January 09, 2011
Hurray 40! Feelin' pretty good, 40 small artworks and I'm not even close to getting tired. In fact with #40 I'm starting a new theme. It won't go everyday but at least once a week I would like to go for a walk and see if I can find enough cool rubbish to make something out of.

Today on my walk to the store, I passed this torn bit of basketball, maybe rugby ball. I saw it on the ground and walked past, then stopped and thought it was pleasing and tactile. Then on the next block this dirty alphabet thing with it's "Pop in and get yours now" starburst.

The scan doesn't really do it justice because I glued down the alphabet on a piece of foamcore then I traced the ball remnant shape and cut it out of the foam so that it's sits flush.

I'm really pleased with it and hope to find more inspiring junk.
