Sept.11, 2011. Remembering all those who lost their lives 10 years
ago. Remembering where we were, what we were doing, whom we were with.
This sandpo Twin Towers card is sent to Joel, Sticker Dude in New York
I found the "Please Ask For Other Shoe!" sticker at the bottom of a shoe box at work and then the first magazine I looked in at home had the picture of the shoe plus "Keep Calm and Pass It On" slogan so they just all had to come together! Added mail icon and two stamps cut from old printed stamp album page to give it a postal dimension.
11 Sept. 2011 Hush Pink Paint chip, Pink bubblemint Orbitz pack, Bra maze from JcPenney junk mail, Cherry Coke wrapper from bottle, Use Caution luggage hang tag from AirTran flight, Pink Drink man from an old Spelling Book all on a Special K cereal box backing
I really didn't know how or if I even should attempt to create any mailart marking 10 years since 9/11 but when I saw this photograph of the Twin Towers covered in messages of support, written at the time, in a recent magazine marking the 10th anniversary, I thought I would at least try. I have also got this piece on the Positively Postal website along with some other additions so please do take a look and let me know what you think, a day for stopping and taking time to reflect........
Hi everyone! It's been a loooooong time since I've shared my contributions. A lot has happened this year, including most recently buying a house and moving. I'm back on track again, but although I was sharing my mailart on my personal blog and on flickr, I forgot to post over here for a bunch of weeks. I'm going to try and catch up and post a few every day, so as not to swamp the site. I'm behind 7 weeks on my own blog as well, so hopefully I'll get on top of this (here and there) over the next week or two.
This week's postcards (118-124) were based on photos I took of my friends' Tom and Nikki's dog. This was the puppy that my friend Nikki (29y/o) wanted for years and years. She finally got him just a few months before she passed away (from cancer earlier this year). We were dog sitting earlier this summer so I snapped these pictures. You can read more about the process and about Nikki on my original blog post here.
