The end of Jan 365's...

Monday, January 31, 2011

Some images were just meant to be together! The Monkee's (stamp's) I found in my moms old posters and stuff she used to have hanging in her room as a teen. Its repeating images of the long ago, but not forgotten Monkees, Davy, Micky, Michael and Peter.

062-61-60 Katerina Nikoltsou

Monday, January 31, 2011

January 29, 30, 31, 2011. The last days of January, and they were dedicated to answering a few mail art calls. "Endless Tune" is a theme for Yaku in Japan, it was sent for Jan.29. Her project includes using her image of a piano for our mail art composition. My collage had as it's base the wrapping from "Endless" paper kitchen towels! Ivan Semisov in Russia has a project with the theme" Long Distance Running". And with the base being a map of Greece, I added an image of a ancient bronze statue of a woman runner. Women could not participate in the Ancient Olympic games, but they had their own games in honor of the goddess Hera. And for Jan.31, I sent to Brad, an "ART DETOX" image from our Chicago meeting for his "Fluxus Dakota" . And now for February: red ...and hearts and stuff ;-)

#62 - It's All About Balance

Monday, January 31, 2011

This woman with the beautiful smile makes me smile. She does indeed have style.

She has so many apples in her basket! I wonder if she and her family get to eat those apples. Sometimes people who harvest produce can't afford to buy the same produce. I wish there was a way to find a balance between growing healthy, chemical and GMO-free food and keeping that production affordable. In the US organic foods are very expensive. I don't know if that is the case in the rest of the world, though. I hope this lady's beautiful smile is due in part to a healthy diet of fresh fruit and vegetables.

This is heading to Morrissey at college. I remember college being a bit unbalancing ... too many choices sometimes.

026 through 030 - Dragons, music, and fish!

Monday, January 31, 2011

I've got to stop falling behind. Luckily, now that I've got this week out of the way, things shouldn't be too tough for a while. ^^ Also, the new glue stick works great! I was afraid that it would be bad because it was so cheap, but it worked like a charm.

Looks much nicer in person. I'm using gold and silver leaf joss paper and it doesn't scan very well. The picture which is from an old Eastern religions book didn't so hot either.

1-31-11 My Dollhouse

Monday, January 31, 2011
As a little girl, I loved my dollhouse. Today, I decided to decorate a dollhouse to reconnect with my inner child. By the way, my inner child is named 'Polly', which is what I was called when I was a little girl.

54 - Ninja warning

Monday, January 31, 2011

This A4 piece started off with a snowflake outline, that I picked up at a recent education technology show and I had intended to make a wintery scene.

However, as soon as I saw the white shapes on the black background, I just knew a ninja was hiding in there somewhere!

Because of the size, I'm going to send this to a mailartist in the UK. Not sure who yet

53 Recycled

Sunday, January 30, 2011

After my drawing class this week I just wanted to get myself back collaging. It's an art form I feel comfortable with.

The stamps came from a brilliant post crossing I received a while back from holland. The piece was made of cardboard and had 6 sudokus on it and a load of NL stamps.

In order to register the card I had to solve all 6 sudokus.

It took me aaaaaaaaages.
